2022 Diversity and Inclusion Award Winner
At Romero, we are hugely delighted to hear our name be called as the winner of the Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Award at this year’s Insurance Times Awards.
The event was held in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House. We were honoured to stand up in front of the insurance world’s best and brightest and discuss and be celebrated for our hard work involving inclusion.
How Do Romero promote diversity and inclusion?
At Romero, we firmly believe in inclusion through wellbeing.
The very core of our business is celebrating & supporting the individual, and the unique contributions they make to our business.
We have pioneered inclusion through wellbeing. Support our teams as individuals, offering tailored approaches to wellbeing unique to their needs creating an environment where our team can thrive.
Romero recently launched a package of support; including wellbeing, health, training, financial and social support, with an average individual benefit value of over £5,000 per person, per year. This £5000 grant is available to all staff members, new and old. Within this monetary support package includes all our We Are Wellbeing led facilities, extra curricular activities and health plans previously available only through the NHS or private practitioners.
To support our teams throughout the business we also launched the Total Support Scheme – this is a one-stop shop for individuals, offering a shopping list of support services. This allows Romero to cater to the differences and diversity of team members.
How were wellbeing services acknowledged by staff?
Six months after launching the Total Support scheme, we undertook a comprehensive staff survey to explore how the scheme had performed and the results demonstrated:
98.5% of staff felt able to be their authentic self at work
82% of staff felt they understood their colleagues better
94% of staff felt supported by the business
89% of staff were Happy or Very Happy at work
To ensure momentum is maintained following the launch of Total Support, voluntary champions have been appointed, whose responsibility it is to monitor the uptake of the available support and be a resource for teams to be able to access it.
Monthly meetings allow these champions to feedback what’s working, allowing us to adapt the scheme to continually evolve to what unique needs our teams face.
